Huskies take five-set win over Grand Valley

The Michigan Tech volleyball team played against Wayne State University on Friday, Oct. 24 in the Woods Gym. The Huskies lost the series 1-3, keeping it close in each set. The final set scores were 14-25, 20-25, 25-16, and 16-25.

Tech bounced back the next day with a win over Grand Valley State University. After losing the first set 19-25, the Huskies rallied and took the next two sets 25-17 and 25-20. Grand Valley won the fourth set 25-15, forcing a fifth, but the Huskies finished strong, winning 15-9.

“It’s been a long time since the Huskies won a 5 set match,” play-by-play announcer Mitch Lake said. “The Huskies showed a lot of tenacity after losing the first set to come back and beat one of the top 3 teams in the conference. Frontline players Paige Wagner and Rachel Zurek really made a difference.”

This weekend’s split proved Michigan Tech’s ability to compete against some of the toughest teams in the conference with great determination and energy.
