On Saturday Sep. 5 the city of Hancock put on its fourth annual End of Summer Celebration. Located on Quincy Street’s 400 Block throughout downtown Hancock, the event featured live music, a street dance from Chad Borgen and the Collective, as well as over 30 vendors.

End of Summer Fest targets all ages within the community through music, vendors for all, kids and adult games, and the beer garden fundraiser for the Hancock City Fire Department before wrapping it all up with a laser light show. Regarding what Tech students would value most from the event, City of Hancock’s Community Development Coordinator Todd Gast said, “This could be a great event for them to understand the community around them… [a]nd to celebrate the beautiful summer we had.”

In addition to the activities, Gast recommended the fest “if you are looking for that awesome bite of food.” Food vendors change each year, with some new and some reoccurring. The team from Rez Robins Frybread said, “We were popular when we came the first year, and so we are back this year to sell.”

In addition to unique food items, there were multiple drink vendors including Fresh Coast Drinks, which remained popular throughout the afternoon. Most vendors were non-food and spread across Quincy Green selling unique crafts and art. There were also tables set up with free activities including slime making and bubbles.

Other featured events were the pay-to-enter tournaments including pickleball, cribbage, and corn hole, with prizes for winners. “The End of Summer Fest is a way of tying all of the summer events up with a nice big bow,” Gast explained., “It’s bittersweet looking back on what we had, but we can celebrate and have lots of fun.” Gast emphasized, “I hope people get interested in attending years to come.”
