Your weekly update on the Keweenaw music scene!
Hello Lode readers! This is a new column dedicated to informing students about local music around the Keweenaw. I’ll be highlighting upcoming shows and recent releases.
Several local bands have released music over the summer on Bandcamp and other streaming platforms, including Humility, Willowby, and STARDAWG, who released a full length LP. Marquette art rock duo Bimbo is releasing a new album “The Bimbonacci Sequence” on Sep. 18, 2026, with two preview singles out on streaming platforms. Several local metal and punk bands including Addicus, Sticky Rat, and Gnashing of Teeth, are putting on a K-Day show from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. More info can be found at instagram.com/allforonefest_and_kday.
Experimental folk artist and MTU Alumna Lena Maude has a new album out on streaming services: Just In Case Love. To promote it, she’s doing shows in Hancock, Marquette, and Lac La Belle this coming weekend. More info can be found at lenamuade.com.
In her time at MTU, Maude got a degree in Theoretical Math, which she says “Offered ample fuel for abstract thinking, grasping concepts, and making connections. I also discovered and dove into the Audio Production Department my last year of school… Being surrounded by the harsh conditions and vast wilderness of the Keweenaw and the alternative student-body life at Tech with [its] oddities… creates a strange launchpad for those self-discovery years.”
Archives of previous shows can be found on youtube.com/@sindangerously, archive.org/details/@thechasedanger, and youtube.com/@HoughtonLive. If there’s anything I missed, or you’re a student musician, please contact me at mameyer1@mtu.edu.
