From Thursday, Feb. 19, through Saturday, Feb. 21, Michigan Tech Theater Company performed a production of the play Proof. The show was sold out on Friday and Saturday night.

This play was directed by Assistant Teaching Professor, and Visual and Performing Arts Director, Nich Radcliffe. The play starred fourth-year mechanical engineering student Katherine Rauscher as Catherine, Computer Science professor Charles Wallace as Robert, fourth-year mechanical engineering student Brock Maloney as Hal, and second-year Paige Harsevoort as Claire.

Proof is a Pulitzer Prize winning play by David Auburn. According to pulitzer.org, “Proof is the story of an enigmatic young woman, Catherine, her manipulative sister, their brilliant father, and an unexpected suitor. They are all pieces of the puzzle in the search for the truth behind a mysterious mathematical proof.”

After the showing on Friday Feb. 20, some of the audience members were asked what they thought of the show. One audience member, Will Daniels, said, “A lot of the lighting was cool. I think the actors that they picked fit the characters. It’s well written, it’s funny.”

Another audience member said, “I thought it was great. I really like the lighting, it was really good. I liked the Fibonacci spiral in the floor. The story was encapsulating in a different way.”

Paige Harsevoort said in regards to her performance, “[I] thought we all did really good on stage, and the audience was really good. Laughed at a lot of the parts where they were supposed to laugh at, so that was really good.”

“I hope the audience enjoyed it. I hope that they, you know, got everything, all the points that needed to get across and had a good time while doing so,” Harsevoort continued on.
