Winter parking ban in effect

On Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, the annual winter parking ban went into effect and will be in place until Apr. 30, 2026.

No parking will be permitted on campus between the hours of 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily. Michigan Tech employees who have shifts starting before 7 a.m. have been assigned a specific parking location. Occupants of on-campus housing with a current residential parking permit for a designated parking lot or space. Visitors with purchased permits and employees without an assigned parking location must contact Transportation Services at parking@mtu.edu.

If you need to request permission to park somewhere on campus overnight beyond 2 a.m., please contact Michigan Tech Public Safety and Police Services at 906-487-2216 to be assigned a designated parking space. They will need your name, reason for request, campus location, phone number, and vehicle information. If your request to park overnight is accepted, they will direct you to a designated parking lot or a metered parking area. Please note that if they direct you to a metered parking area, the meter must be paid overnight, and your vehicle must be moved by 7 a.m. unless other arrangements have been approved.

Visitor parking permits can be purchased Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Transportation Services office in the Administration Building (Room 100) or online using the Michigan Tech Parking Portal. If you are arriving after 4 p.m., you will need to purchase an overnight parking permit dated for the next day, which will allow you to park past midnight. Visitors will be assigned a parking lot or space.
