Every student can agree that college life can be stressful. It takes a lot of good time management to have success in academics. Procrastination can be very common among students who do not manage their time well. Most classes suggest 2-4 hours of study time outside of class, according to the Academic Support Michigan Tech provides.
Some of the ways students can prepare themselves for their classes are by simply being there for attendance, even if it’s not required. By setting a schedule for yourself, you can set good habits of showing up and doing your work. And speaking of schedules, creating a schedule can also help with managing your time effectively. But sometimes it’s easy to forget, so making sure to set reminders may also be another way you can hold yourself accountable.
Next up is prioritization, which is an important step most people don’t use. Let’s say that you have two homework assignments. One is much smaller, but due next week, and the other, much bigger, which can take a couple of days to complete, but is due by the end of the week. You may feel inclined to finish up the easier homework assignment, but if you delay your other project till the last minute, then you might not be able to finish it.
Finally, I want to end with something most people wouldn’t expect to be put in this article. And that is, make sure to save yourself some free time. Many students will get into the rhythm of doing their homework all the time (which isn’t necessarily bad). But with this, you will find yourself burned out and with no motivation to do anything. So saving time to have fun is just as important as making time to complete all of your schoolwork.
