MUB Board hosts Taste of Fall

The MUB hosted their annual “Taste of Fall” event on Nov. 10. The event was open to students 21 years of age and older as well as members of the Houghton community as a wrap-up celebration for the fall season. The venue for the event was the ballroom on the second floor of the MUB, and ran from 6-8 p.m. Attendees paid $13 to be involved in the event, which included a four-course dinner and beer pairings with each course. This year’s event sold out.

The courses for the dinner consisted of a butternut squash soup, a fall-inspired salad with couscous, a pork roast over a bed of sweet potatoes and broccolini, and a tiramisu. Each course came along with a unique beer pairing with some from local Michigan breweries.

Tom Morrison, a Chemical Engineering student stated that his experience at the event was different compared to other MUB hosted events that he has attended during his time at Tech. Morrison commented that there was, “less interaction, but [it] was very high quality.” He also said that he “enjoyed sitting with people we didn’t know. They were welcoming and eventually made for some hilarious conversation. I found out someone across the table had a parent that went to high school with my mother.”

Events like “Taste of Fall” give students the opportunity to network and make connections with other students and the community while enjoying an alternative meal to the dining hall.
