Michigan Tech students can participate in an experience of a lifetime Nov. 19 through 22. Huskies have the opportunity to take a trip down to Detroit to meet with Ford Motor Company representatives and tour their innovation district, including Michigan Central, Newlab, and the Michigan Founders Fund. Tours are led by DUO security co-founder Dug Song, Amazon, Dow Ventures, and a plethora of companies that are just starting up their businesses.
This event gives students experience with entrepreneurship and the community. Utsav Dube, a graduate student, finds the opportunity to be very engaging, saying, “It sounds very interesting, it’s really important as it creates more opportunities to research in that domain for the betterment of society by creating more jobs. It also helps the economy and the younger generation get more depth into those types of business opportunities.”
The Husky Motors van will depart and return on the dates listed above. There will be three days worth of tours. This will take place on the first half ofThanksgiving break. Hotel and transportation will be covered. Some meals will also be provided. Students who attend are asked to give back to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship community by moderating a Husky Innovate talk, hosting a panel talk for the CEO club, writing a blog, vlog, article for the Lode., or social media updates. To experience innovation like none other, students can sign up on the Michigan Tech Student Scoop Website, at https://blogs.mtu.edu/stu-org-news/. For more information contact husyinnovate@mtu.edu.
