The College of Business hosted its second Etiquette Dinner this semester on Oct. 12. The Etiquette Dinner is a semesterly event that was created in the Spring of 2023, and was first hosted this semester on Sep. 28. The event is put on for students by the College of Business who are looking to learn about professional dining in American culture. Students who participated arrived at the Miscowaubik Club located in Calumet, MI. near Calumet High School and were provided fine dining. In addition to the meal, the students were taught tips on dining etiquette to be used in business meetings and given time to network with other attendees.
Jacob Rokos, a fifth-year Business Management student at the event stated that learning dining etiquette “is definitely an important skill to learn,” speaking generally and for business meeting settings that students will most likely come across in their professional careers. Rokos also mentions how, “I would never have picked up on it in college since I don’t have a lot of money and there are limited options for fine dining in the area.” Students are able to practice their dinner etiquette free of charge and financial worries, as many students cannot comfortably afford to go out to an expensive restaurant.
The Etiquette Dinner is one of many networking events that the College of Business provides to their students throughout the semester. In addition to the Etiquette Dinner, the College of Business also provides and assists in professional development events in their Professional Blueprint program.
