One week until Homecoming!

Homecoming starts Sunday with the Pi Mile on Walker at 10 a.m., along with kickball, and tug-of-war. Be sure to check out the window paintings from the teams up at the SDC throughout the week as well after they are completed on sunday.

Any organization can form teams and compete in the events throughout the week to get points. Another benefit of forming a team is being able to nominate one of your members to be crowned as homecoming royalty at the Saturday football game. This year, the Tau Kappa Epsilon (ΤΚΕ) fraternity and Delta Zeta (ΔΖ) Sorority are teamed up as well as the Delta Phi Epsilon (ΔΦΕ) Sorority with Phi Kappa Tau (ΦΚΤ) to make some of our largest teams for homecoming.

The cardboard boat races will occur on Friday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. at the West Houghton Waterfront Park. Every year all the teams come together solo or pair up with another organization to build cardboard boats that they will put to the test in races against other teams. “The cardboard boat races are the only part of homecoming I get super excited about each year!” says 3rd-year student Cailin Bishop.

Homecoming Week wraps up on Saturday, Oct. 8, with a tailgate in Lot 24 before the Football Game. Huskies are playing Wayne State in their homecoming game so that is not something you would want to miss! The game also includes the Crowning of the Homecoming Royalty.
