The Michigan Tech volleyball team is ranked No. 21 in this week’s AVCA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Huskies received votes in the preseason poll and were ranked in five polls in 2018.
Tech’s No. 20 ranking is the highest for the Huskies since 1997 when they checked in at No. 17. The Black and Gold spent two weeks at No. 24 and three at No. 25 last season.
The Huskies are 3-1 after sweeping No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State Thursday and Mary and Minnesota Crookston on Friday. The lone loss was to Upper Iowa in five sets Saturday. It’s the second straight season sweeping a top 10-ranked team from the NSIC after taking down No. 1 Minnesota Duluth last year at Northern Michigan’s tournament.
The Huskies and Bulldogs will matchup on Thursday (Sept. 12) in a top 25 showdown at St. Cloud State. UMD is ranked No. 6 this week. Tech also plays Bemidji State and host SCSU Friday, and Minnesota Crookston Saturday.
