The Nice List

A tribute to warm Yooper culture

To my lovely, obese, depressed cat,

I love you so much, that words can’t describe how much I do. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Your soft little meows bring me joy and warm my heart. When you yell at me because your food dish is empty, it is the purest thing for one to hear. Even playing fetch with you and your favorite pipe cleaner clears my mind and soothes my soul.

I know when we first met, we didn’t click right away. You were just a little kitten who was scared of everything. We didn’t know you had anxiety; we just thought you didn’t like us. But soon enough, you finally were able to come out of the basement and warmed up to us. You showed me that with enough patience, everything will work out. I fell in love as soon as you crawled into my lap.

When your eye turned black and goopy, I was terrified I would lose you. Luckily, it’s just eye herpes, and you aren’t going to perish. However, when that inevitable time comes when I will lose you, I don’t know what I’m going to do without my big boy.

Thank you for making my life happier. Thank you for making me feel better when I’m at a low. I will love you until the end of time.

Love,
