LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time since the 2001 season, Michigan Tech volleyball has been ranked inside the Top 25 of the AVCA Division II Coaches Poll.
The Huskies, 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the GLIAC this season, have been ranked 25th in the country with 70 points received. The Huskies have been receiving votes since the Week 3 poll released on September 3.
Michigan Tech joins Ferris State (14-3, 9-0 GLIAC) at No. 6 as the only two schools from the GLIAC to be placed inside the Top 25. The Bulldogs received 925 total points with one first place vote. Ashland (15-3, 8-1 GLIAC) received 26 votes in this week’s poll.
Cal State San Bernadino (16-1) tops the poll with 1152 total points and 28 first place votes. Following the Coyotes is Northern State (16-1) at No. 2 with 1123 total points and 15 first place votes, Concordia-St. Paul (14-3) at No. 3 with 1078 total points and one first place vote, Nebraska-Kearney (19-1) at No. 4 with 1045 total points and one first place vote, and Minnesota Duluth (14-3) at No. 5 with 945 total points.
Michigan Tech is back in action for another pair of GLIAC road games. The Huskies will take on Purdue Northwest (1-16, 0-9 GLIAC) on Friday (Oct. 5) before traveling to face Parkside (4-13, 2-7 GLIAC) on Saturday, Oct. 6.
