With Career Fair coming up on Sep. 29 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. it’s time to start thinking about your resume and which companies to meet. Career Services invites students to join them this month not only at Career Fair, but also Career Fest.

With the numerous service opportunities provided by Career Services, Career Fest is one of the major events that takes place to help students equip themselves with the tools they need to succeed.

Career Fest will be happening throughout September, with General Industry Days being on Sep. 15 and 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with Career Fest Walk-In on the same day and time, both at the campus mall located by the Husky statue outside the library. In addition to these, held in the Administration building will be Career Fest: Resume Review with Employers on Sep 15 and 17 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Career Fair Prep: Student Panel from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sep. 16. Furthermore, there will be Iris Portraits: The Campus Tour in Wadworth Hall on Sep. 19 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Finally, at the campus mall, Career Fest Fall 2026: Foundry Fest will be held on Sep. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Career Fair is a way to find a job or meet with employers. While  job postings can be found on Handshake or Indeed, at Career Fair students can actually meet with the employer. Career Fair “is about building confidence…” and learning “how do you shake somebody’s hand…how do you introduce yourself,” according to Jim Desrochers, director of employer relations at Career Services. Even for students who aren’t looking for a job right now, it can equip students with the tools they need for when they do look for jobs.

As a testament to its value, the size alone of the Career Fair shows. According to Cody Kangas, the executive director of Career Services, over 400 companies will be at the Career Fair this year. Of these companies, over 75 percent are returning from last year. Desrochers said, “MTU will never be the easiest place to recruit at because [employers] have to dedicate three days because they have to drive here.” Despite these challenges, companies come back year after year to recruit at Tech. Regardless of someone’s major or year, it’s valuable to be one of the 4000 students who attend Career Fair to gain what Kangas described as “knowledge, skills, ability, [and] development that is priceless.”
