On Apr. 3, WMTU will present the Keweenawesomefest at MTU, bringing together local musicians and community members for a night of live music at the Rozsa Center. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the house opening at 5:30 p.m.
The annual event, organized by Michigan Tech’s college radio station WMTU in collaboration with several university student organizations, celebrates the music scene of the Keweenaw Peninsula while giving regional artists the opportunity to perform on a larger stage.

Keweenawesomefest, commonly called K-Fest, aims to highlight local talent while also attracting artists who might not normally perform in the Houghton area. The event has become a staple of the local music community, offering a venue where students, residents, and visiting performers can come together for an evening of entertainment.
Organizers say the festival’s goal is to support the Keweenaw’s creative community while keeping the event accessible to a wide audience. By maintaining low ticket costs and hosting the festival in a central campus location, K-Fest encourages participation from both the Michigan Tech community and residents throughout the region.
With a mix of local performers and visiting artists, the festival is designed to showcase the diversity of music in the Keweenaw while providing a weekend highlight for the community. Organizers describe the event as an opportunity for friends and families to gather, discover new music, and celebrate the region’s growing arts culture.
K-Fest will begin with the bands Brookie, Humility, and Willowby. Then, there will be a 15 minute intermission before the bands Ferrari Fast, Cattle Dogs, and TUK take the stage. After a final 15 minute intermission, the night will end with the bands The Go Rounds and Tollways.
Students receive free admission, otherwise tickets are on a “pay as you’re able” basis.Seating begins half an hour prior to the event start time. Students can get more information and purchase tickets at events.mtu.edu/event/keweenawesomfest-2026, or at the Rozsa Center.
