Candidate Social, Spring Fling, and a future survey about dorm opening time
The Undergraduate Student Government held their weekly meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 11 in the MUB Alumni Lounge. The election results were announced, concluding with a total of 387 votes. For the E-Board, Ford Schoonover was re-elected as President, Braden Quesenberry elected as Vice President, Conner Skalitzky elected as Treasurer, and Becky Etten re-elected as Secretary. Jasper Gustafson and Matthew Echols were elected as At-Large Representatives.
Beyond those just elected, representative nominations are currently open, and a candidate social is to be held on Wednesday, Mar. 25, details pending.
Prior to the meeting, the newly created Blizzard’s Bargains committee met for the first time, debriefing on initial plans, advertising, and what the vision for the final product will end up being. Communication with businesses is currently in progress.
The Ways and Means (WAM) committee recommended the Men’s Volleyball Club receive $2,650 for new uniforms and equipment, to be voted on at the next meeting. The Snowmobile Club requested $19,590 for a new trailer, the WAM recommendation was $0 due to limited funding. The meeting began with Treasurer David Reeves discussing USG finances. He will present an abridged version at the beginning of next week’s meeting.
USG’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, Mar. 18 at 7 p.m. in the MUB Alumni Lounge, with public comment expected to take up a majority of the meeting time. More information about USG, and their meeting minutes, can be found at usg.mtu.edu.
