Homecoming teams took the stage Thursday, Sep. 18, at the Rozsa Center to show off their lip-syncing and dance talents. They were accompanied by a crowd of fellow Huskies and Tech alumni who were all there to judge each team’s performance alongside the panel. Each team was judged based on a combination of factors, including quality of acting, costume replication of the chosen artist, and dance moves.

A variety of throwbacks were presented to the audience, keeping the energy alive throughout the evening. For some, the production took days worth of orchestrating, while others seemed to have thrown it all together under last-minute circumstances. According to Kurt May, a participant of the Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Delta Alpha team, “we had members become ill, so a lot of us had to step in at the last minute to put on a show,” after performing a tasteful rendition of Katy Perry’s “California Girls” which included elements of the iconic 2015 Super Bowl half-time show. The line-up continued to stay strong with “Love Shack” by Kappa Delta Psi, “I Want It That Way” by Superior Squad, “Everybody” by MUB Board, and a number of other entertaining acts.

After the teams presented their song and dance, votes were cast, and a winner was declared. The well-deserved trophy went to Delta Zeta and Phi Kappa Tau, who transformed into a batch of young Justin Biebers, giving an unforgettable delivery of his hit song “Baby”. Winning participant Madison Ruth gave a closing remark to end the night on a high note: “It takes dedication, and I’m proud to be a Belieber.”
