TAU TROT Annual 5k

Alpha Sigma Tau (ΑΣΤ) and Phi Kappa Tau(ΦΚΤ) are hosting a 5k run/walk from the  ΦΚΤ house to the ΑΣΤ house. This event is to help support both of the Greek organizations’ philanthropies. Registration for the 5k is $15, with the option of purchasing a race shirt, available for $10. The event is on Apr. 12 at 11 a.m. at 1209 W Quincy St. If 25 or more people register to run/walk, some ΑΣΤ members will jump in the Portage post-race.

Proceeds from the registration go directly to the ΑΣΤ philanthropy of Girls on the Run and the ΦΚΤ philanthropy of SeriousFun Network. Girls on the Run supports elementary and middle school girls in learning valuable physical and mental health skills. Girls on the Run programs at schools across the country help girls to become more confident, work in teams, and build meaningful relationships with others. SeriousFun Children’s Network offers camp and recreational experiences to children with serious illnesses. These experiences are provided not only to children but also to their families. The profit is split equally between the two philanthropies, and additional donations can be made during the event.

Grace Nelson, Vice President of Community Relations for ΑΣΤ, stated that she is “most excited to see members of the [community] come together and run in nice weather… while giving back and supporting these two awesome causes!” Nelson is coordinating with ΦΚΤ to help this event run smoothly.

The winner of the race will receive a $25 gift card to a business of their choice. The last day to sign up is Apr. 11, and the last day to purchase a shirt is Apr. 7. Scan the QR code on the TAU Trot flyer to register. Come out and support the TAU’s philanthropies!
