Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra to perform in celebration of Isle Royale’s 85th Anniversary

Isle Royale’s 85th Anniversary is coming up this year on Apr. 3, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Rozsa Center. This event will take place on Feb. 15, 2025, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this event will cost $20 for non-students, but if you are a student, tickets are free with your student ID.

Students are also permitted to bring one accompanying guest to the event. The event will be showcasing many symphonic compositional works including Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, 1st Movement, and Aaron Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo. This event will also feature the world debut of “The Land That Speaks When We’ve Ears to Listen” by Libby Meyer. Libby Meyer has served as the composer-in-residence at the Isle Royale National Park and is a part of the Visby International Center for Composers (Sweden). Meyer is also currently a teaching professor of composition and music theory at Michigan Tech. The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra is made up of Michigan Tech students and faculty as well as community musicians and is led by Dr. Joel Neaves. The orchestra performs four to five concerts per year—in the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts, so this rare occasion is not one that you should miss.
