Biking in the Keweenaw

Whether you are an avid road biker looking to take on large mileage or you want to go as fast as possible downhill on a mountain bike, the Keweenaw is a beautiful place to go biking. Although the Tech Trails offer a great variety for all skill levels, the rest of the peninsula has many great trails to offer.

East Bluff bike park is located just past Copper Harbor down Mandan road. It offers several intense downhill trails that go down the mountain that the park gets its name from. The trails range in intensity from flowy blues to intense double blacks. In addition, these trails offer an outstanding view of the Keweenaw at the top. Each trail is constantly being maintained and improved by Rock Solid Trail Contracting, the largest trail building company in the world, these trails provide a great place for a day full of downhill riding. A shuttle is available for $75 plus tax or there is a trail that can be used to bike to the top.

Brockway Mountain in Copper Harbor also offers downhill trails with a similar grade of difficulty to the East Bluff bike park. A shuttle for Brockway is offered by Keweenaw Adventure Company for $50 a day or one can bike up the road or a trail to the top.

If you are looking for a more relaxed cross country ride, the Swedetown bike trails may be for you. These trails are more relaxed loops that provide a great biking experience in the Keweenaw. Last but not least, the Maasto Hiihto trails just north of Hancock are also another great trail system for exploring the beauty available just minutes from Tech’s campus.
