Campus Introductions; Engineering Management

Are you interested in the way innovative ideas come to fruition and in enjoying the creative process in both the engineering and business world? If so, Engineering Management may be the right major for you.

This program is well-rounded and introduces students to many different aspects and perspectives that occur in professional jobs. Marie Wangen, a 4th year Engineering Management student from Magnor, Norway, says her favorite part about being an engineering management student is the “opportunity to combine engineering courses with management and economics classes.”

The wide variety of classes helps students grasp business concepts by taking courses like Finance, Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Marketing, and Business Law. Students will also earn proficient engineering skills by taking classes like Environmental Engineering, Statics: Strengths of Materials, Circuits, and Material Science. The Engineering Management path also sharpens time management skills through courses like Quantitative Problem Solving and Operations of Supply Chain Management. The major is a great way to practice teamwork and learn how to handle more significant responsibilities during group projects. Another 4th year Engineering Management student, Hayden Baker, says the most valuable part of being an Engineering Management student is getting to not only understand, but to do both the engineering and business sides of projects.
