Free Farmers Market in Fisher Food Pantry

Every Sunday, until the weather gets cold, Students for Sustainability gives out fresh produce at the Husky Food Access Network pantry in Fisher Hall. The produce comes from the garden outside of Wadsworth Hall. Produce is available every Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., completely free to students. Any leftover goods will be available during regular Husky Food Access Network hours. Weekly hours can be found under HuskyFan on their Google calendar. The pantry is anticipated to run through the end of October.

The typical weekly selection includes green beans, beets, kale, cucumbers, lettuce, kohlrabi (another variety of lettuce), beets, bell pepper, dill, and parsley, but the choices change each week. Canned and non-perishable goods are also available to students in need during the Free Farmer’s Market.

The Husky Food Access Network Pantry is located on the first floor of Fisher Hall near the vending machines. No names are taken, only the weight of the food and the number of people who will be fed. Students only need to bring their student ID to get food. Bags will be provided.

Students for Sustainability is the organization that started the Free Farmer’s Market. “The Office for Sustainability took over the Wads garden this year… when good produce was coming out, it only made sense to give it to the food pantry,” said Student for Sustainability member Ila Swier.
