Beginner’s Python workshop hosted by the Women in Physics

The Women in Physics organization is putting on a free in-person beginner’s Python workshop for MTU students. This is a good opportunity for any programmers and aspiring language learners out there looking to expand their skill set. The workshop will take place in Rekhi 113 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Wednesday from Sep. 25t to Nov. 20.

While the workshop is currently at capacity, more workshops may be hosted by this group in the future.

The eight-week course is designed to introduce and teach Python in a way that will give students the skill set necessary to use it in whatever personal and professional projects they may have in the future. The workshop will be taught by Juan Botha, an undergraduate physics student here at MTU.

The beginning half of the course will cover data types, conditional statements, loops, arrays, functions, and object-oriented programming. The latter half of the course is designed to take a more applicative approach involving modules such as pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, data analysis, regression, model creation, and basic simulations in Python.
