This weekend, the Michigan Tech Rozsa will host an alumni Queen cover band, The Crown Jewels, as a fundraiser to support Omega House, a community hospice center.
On Sep. 28 The Crown Jewels will be performing at the Rozsa Center at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show are $20 for students and $30 for the general public. The Crown Jewels will perform all of Queen’s greatest hits, arena anthems, and the top ten singles that made Queen so famous. Members of the band include a husband and wife who met while studying at Michigan Tech many years ago. This concert is being hosted by the Omega House to raise funds to continue to provide hospice care for the community.
The Omega House is a hospice and respite care facility in Houghton that provides hospice care for those who do not want aggressive treatment for their conditions. The Omega House Executive Director, Michael Lutz, said that they strive to, “give them everything they need to make sure their end of life is as amazing as their life has been.” The proceeds for this event will go directly to lowering the cost for care for residents and allow Omega House to continue to provide great care to its patients.
Along with the concert, there is going to be a raffle at the concert for a Fender guitar that came from a generous donor. The guitar is an American Ultra Telecaster Fender guitar and has a retail value of $2,000. Tickets for the raffle start at $10 and all proceeds go to Omega House.
