Free Professional Headshots to be offered at Career Fair

Students attending Career Fair on Sep. 24 can receive free professional headshots at the Hall of Fame Room in the SDC. This service will be available from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Alumni Engagement Department, which is organizing the event, emphasizes its long-term support for students as they transition into their careers. Associate Director for Alumni Engagement Jennifer Biekkola explained the department’s motivation behind the event, stating, “Once a Husky always a Husky; we know that you are students but know you will eventually be Alumni, and we want to make that connection.”

The event will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Previous Career Fairs experienced significant wait times for the photos, so students are encouraged to arrive early to guarantee their spot.

Getting a professional headshot has become more important with the increased use of social media, such as LinkedIn, throughout the hiring process. Cody Kangas, the Executive Director of Career Services, offered his take on why getting one can assist with connecting with employers, saying, “It is an opportunity to put out your authentic self in a professional environment,” he said, “It allows you to portray what you would bring in on a day-to-day basis.”

For more information, students can visit the Alumni and Friends page on Michigan Tech’s website or look for the event on Handshake.
