CareerFEST kicks off this week

Career Fest kicks off this week on Tuesday, Sep. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a focus on Michigan employers, and also has another similar event on Wednesday, Sep. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for every other employer.

Career Fest can be best described as a more casual and laid back Career Fair and offers an invaluable experience to students. According to Cody Kangas, Executive Director of Career Services, “Career Fair itself can be pretty overwhelming when you’re talking to 375 companies all at once, so leading up to Fair going to something like Career Fest really gives you the opportunity to get in front of companies… [in] a casual, informal setting on campus around the Husky Plaza.” Kangas continued, “[Students can] check out the employers on any given day, don’t need to carry a resume, don’t need to have dress clothes on, just come as you are, I think it’s a good way to prepare.”

Career Fest is open to all students regardless of their credit level. According to Kangas, “Career Fest is open to all students across campus, all years, all levels, all majors. Now students can go to Handshake, they can also download the Career Fair Plus app, we strongly encourage students do both, so making sure your Handshake profile is up to date, current, ready to roll, and checking out Career Fair Plus and seeing the employers on any given day that will be on campus, but nevertheless all students, all majors, all years on campus, are welcome to swing on by and engage with these employers.”

Any information on the specific schedule for Career Fest and other related events can be found on the Career Services Events page, and if you have any further questions regarding Career Fest, or anything career related, you are encouraged to contact Career Services.
