USG swears in new leadership as amendment vote continues

The process of electing new USG representatives concluded on Mar. 26, 2025, when election results were announced at the general meeting. After the new president and representatives were sworn in, the new governing body discussed constitutional amendments and other procedural matters, with the student vote on the amendments still ongoing.

College representatives election results were announced. Rylan Feierabend won representative for the College of Business. Kylin Campbell and Zachary Zurshmeide won representatives for the College of Sciences and Arts with 32.81% and 28.12% of the vote. Coleton Wilczynski and Nick Elpedes won representatives for the College of Computing with 39.39% and 33.33% of the vote.

USG President Cole Pierucki delivered his farewell address after serving 882 days as president. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating he was, “so grateful to serve for three whole terms.” At 7:59 p.m., Ford Schoonover was sworn in as the new USG president by Pierucki, and at 8:01 p.m. The new representatives were sworn in at the meeting as well

Breeana Schlicker and Connor Din secured seats on the Ways and Means Committee. Brendan Leddy was appointed as an associate member to facilitate the transition for the next Political Affairs Chair, passing with a 12-0-1 vote. Pierucki was named President Emeritus in recognition of his contributions to USG.

Although voting for new representatives has concluded, the student body’s vote on constitutional reform has yet to meet the required threshold. Only 329 votes have been cast, short of the 900 needed. The Student Satisfaction Survey was released, with results impacting Experience Tech Fee allocations. Both of these were sent out to students via email. 

The 2025-26 RSO SAF Allocation vote passed 22-0-1, on the condition that it is increased by the Board of Trustees. The 2025-26 SBG Budget allocation was also approved 21-0-2.

A Campus Policy Changes Q&A session is scheduled for Apr. 7 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Fisher 135. Leddy said, “Because there have been events in the past of a political nature, where people not affiliated with Tech were coming and causing disruptions;” due to this, students must tap in using their Husky ID. The next main USG meeting will be postponed until 7:30 p.m. on Apr. 2.
