Family Fun Day for MTU’s faculty and their families

Family Fun Day was Saturday, Mar. 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and was a time for Michigan Tech employees and their families to have free access to MTU’s campus amenities. The event was sponsored by the Staff Council and was located in the Student Development Complex, Gates Tennis Center, and Tech Trails.

Family Fun Day included a free lunch in the SDC Ice Arena Concourse, tennis and pickleball at the Gates Tennis Center, skating and hockey provided with rentals at the MacInnes Ice Arena, racquetball, eSports to play video games, climbing at the climbing wall, outdoor equipment for the Tech Trails at the Nordic Waxing Center, and pool activities. The shooting range was also open for archery, pistol, practice pistol, and rifle shooting; equipment was provided and club members were available to assist. The Multipurpose Room was also available and included the basketball, volleyball, and badminton.

The day was a huge success, drawing a fantastic turnout from employees and their families. Filled with laughter, games, good food, and activities for all ages, there was a fun atmosphere that provided a well-deserved break for the staff and memories with their families.

Though the activities may have been more geared toward the kids, many parents got involved with the climbing wall and skating. An MTU alumnus brought his grandkids to Family Fun Day and participated in the climbing wall.

The MTU Staff Council sponsors this event every year, and consistently strives to provide events and opportunities to enhance the working environment of Michigan Tech. The group also likes to recognize outstanding performances and maximize the development of skills and professionalism among staff. Besides Family Fun Day, the group also provides different awards to the staff.

Despite our request for an interview with the Staff Council of MTU, they respectfully declined an interview on Family Fun Day.
