Interested in free leadership education? The HuskyLEAD: Effective Leadership Transitions sessions aim to teach students strategies for effectively taking up the mantle of leadership in any organization. This session is scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Fisher 129. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP on the Michigan Tech Involvement Link or through the MTU HuskyLEAD page.
HuskyLEAD is a Leadership Education and Development series for Michigan Tech students–these programs encourage all students to take their leadership skills to the next level by learning from campus leaders and experts. These skills extend past the campus of Michigan Tech, proving useful in personal and professional success.
“This is free leadership education,” said Amy Hjerstedt, Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Involvement. Outside of Michigan Tech, this level of expertise and the dedicated opportunity for learning these skills would often come with a price. These lessons can help students transition into or out of leadership roles, whether it be on or off campus. Some of the specific strategies covered include effective documentation, ensuring continuity of organization resources, continuation of existing organization relationships, and hosting transition meetings. “I definitely would recommend it for all students”.
These lessons will be helpful when transitioning in and out of future careers. “At some point, you’re going to leave [a] job, or at some point you’re going to take on a new job.” The advice and strategies gained during this HuskyLEAD session can help you document and ask questions when transitioning into or out of a new role
