Isle Royale National Park celebrates 85th anniversary with art exhibit at Rozsa

Michigan Tech’s Isle Royale Art Exhibit, which can be seen at the Rozsa Center, displays the incredible landscapes inspired by Isle Royale National Park. The exhibit features the artistic works of community-based Artists-in-Residence. This showcase depicts the connection between nature and art, capturing the beauty of one of the iconic UP landmarks.

On entering the exhibit, a glass plaque reads: “Over water, the cloud is an island. In the evening, the birds fly into it.” This quote inspires viewers to appreciate the art in a different manner, taking in the natural beauty of the park displayed in each detail. Isle Royale National Park has historically inspired artists, visitors, and observers alike to dive into their creativity.

The exhibit presents a diverse collection of works, ranging from colorful and black-and-white paintings and drawings to sculptures and mixed-media works, with some incorporating natural materials. Each piece offers a unique perspective on the park’s landscapes, from its vast shorelines and dense forests to its distinctive wildlife.

The Isle Royale Art Exhibit provides an immersive experience, allowing visitors to see the park through the eyes of the artist. This exhibit celebrates  Isle Royale’s natural beauty and the creativity it inspires.
