Launch your future career at Michigan Tech’s Spring Career Fair, where employers are looking to connect with students. Career Services is hosting the Spring Career Fair on Jan. 28, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the SDC. This event provides students the opportunity to talk with many different companies and get their resumes in front of employers. Offices and rooms around campus will be repurposed for interviewing over the next week to allow for a quick turnaround on job applications and career opportunities.
Michigan Tech Career Services, in Administration Building 220, is available to provide advice and guidance for the upcoming Career Fair by reviewing resumes or working closely with a career advisor. They will be available throughout Career Fair, giving advice and directing students and employers. More information about MTU’s Career Services can be found by emailing career@mtu.edu or by talking to someone on campus.
Brock Maloney, a student who participated previously, recommended participating in Career Fair because it gives students a, “valuable experience and lets you talk to individuals in industry.” Another student suggests checking out the MTU Career Fair page on Handshake so that you can plan ahead for who you want to talk to, and prepare for what sort of positions they are looking to fill. It is also suggested to research companies ahead of time and draft questions to understand positions and companies you are interested in.
In preparation for the Career Fair, students can head to the Husky Career Closet in Wadsworth Hall to pick up a nice set of formal wear to make a good first impression. More information can be found by emailing huskycloset@mtu.edu.
