Classroom renovations begin at Michigan Tech

Cutting-edge classroom renovations are underway! Michigan Tech has started renovating classrooms and lecture halls throughout campus. Renovations started on Jan. 15, 2025, and are expected to be complete in Dec. 2025. According to Michigan Tech’s webpage, it is under active construction. 

The specific buildings that will be renovated include the MEEM, the EERC, the DOW, the Walker Arts and Humanities building, the Forestry building, and Dillman Hall. Renovations aim to enhance the learning environments for students as well as faculty.

Renovations on the graduate side of the M&M Building are currently ongoing. With a start date of Jan. 13 and an estimated completion date of Apr. 2025, meaning renovations will be ongoing for the entire spring semester; specifically the interior of the third and fourth floors of the Psychology and Human Factors departments. 

Other exciting projects include renovations in the basement of the MEME which is being remodeled for the new aerospace program. These renovations will include multiple jet thrusters and updated lab spaces. Wordsworth dining hall is also set to be renovated during the summer. 

Recently completed projects include EERC second-floor classrooms, ChemSci 501, B006, and 601. Additional renovations include McNair dining hall. These previous projects have been centered around AV upgrades, furniture, and equipment. 

The Lode is set to meet with Michigan Tech’s project manager in early Feb., upon completion of the final preparation for the upcoming projects. This interview will provide the students with the opportunity to gain knowledge they otherwise would not have. Specific details of the renovation projects as a whole will be discussed.
