Next weekend, the annual Home for the Holidays Gift Market will be happening in the Rozsa Center lobby. The event will be on Saturday, Nov. 30, as students are returning from break. The event will start at 10 a.m. and will continue until 3 p.m. The Home for the Holidays Gift Market is a holiday market featuring local handmade items that, according to their webpage, can be used to “decorate your home, stuff stockings, and give as the perfect gifts to your loved ones.” The event will be free admission for all and will span the entire Rozsa lobby, including the north mezzanine.
This will be the 26th annual Home for the Holidays Gift Market, an event that historically draws over a thousand guests. According to Hannah Rudman, the Guest Services Manager at the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts, the event will be a juried show to guarantee the quality and variety of the items that can be found. The event being juried will also help to ensure that no one category of items will make up more than 15% of the total vendors at the show.
Some of the vendors that will be returning for this year’s event include the Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Association, whose extensive catalog includes puzzles, hats, shirts, water bottles, and pins. Additionally, Kat’s Eye Photography, a local photographer with framed prints and prints on canvas and metal will be returning to the event. Finally, the Keweenaw Wild Bird REC will also be returning with handcrafted bird related items, stickers, T-shirts, and coffee that is grown in a way that protects bird habitats (bird friendly coffee).
