CANNONBALL! Husky Swim Club is a great place for varying skill levels to hone their competitive swimming expertise. Practices take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the SDC swimming pool. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the club practices from 8 to 9:30 p.m., and on Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
During practices, the swim club trains all types of strokes along with two types of workouts per practice. “The team is a great way for retired swimmers to stay active within the sport,” Joel Diccion, president of Husky Swim Club, mentioned. The swim club is “casually competitive,” meaning that students can show up to practices several times a month and never attend a swim meet, or students can show up to every practice and attend sanctioned championship meets.
Husky Swim Club recently had a regional conference down in Bowling Green, Ohio. According to Diccion, they sent 5 swimmers to the meet. Of the 5 swimmers, 4 were qualified to attend Club Nationals hosted at Arizona State University.
While the club has no remaining competitions in the Fall semester, there will be events in the Spring. For more information about the swim club, visit their page on Involvement Link.
